| Who We Are
Based out of Vancouver, BC, Visible Strategies provides the world's most visually-engaging performance management and communications software stemming from 20 years experience guiding government and business leaders around the world on triple bottom line management principles and 21st Century tools. With three clicks of a mouse button, progressive organizations, communities, and governments can quickly and clearly see their plans for a better tomorrow and whether they're on track today, driving real action towards their social, environmental, and economic goals and towards a shared sustainable future. The company is partner to multiple city and business member organizations including Al Gore's Live Earth team.
How We Came to Be
Around 2000, our CEO, Colin Grant, watched as a growing identity crisis afflicted business and government. It was clear that the world had to move beyond industrial revolution thinking yet as many companies and cities were trying, their management and reporting was becoming dysfunctional. For example, BP rebranded itself to “Beyond Petroleum” without showing stakeholders any plan to leave the petroleum industry and corporations were spending considerable time and money writing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability reports that were seldom read.
Everyone was talking about the “triple bottom line” but very few had management systems that could show employees what this meant or were able to communicate in a manner that made sense to stakeholders. At the same time, cities were carrying out major stakeholder engagement processes on long-term planning to determine a better future but the result was lengthy reports that could not be turned into measurable, trackable progress to drive dynamic actions and keep citizens engaged.
It was clear to Colin back then that something very different was needed so he embarked on designing a software tool that could capture the energy and passion that is inside most people and organizations to make the world a better place – socially, environmentally, and economically. It had to be visually-engaging, to simplify the vastly increasing complexity of the modern world, to allow people to see today’s actions are leading to the tomorrow we want, and to close the massive disconnect that had built up between how people wanted to manage and engage with stakeholders and how they were trying to do so with outdated, ineffective tools.
Visible Strategies and SEE-IT are the results of this soul searching.
Much of Colin’s inspiration and passion comes from his young son Jack and his commitment to create a better, more sustainable future for him.
